Ghanaian musician Fameye has opened up about how growing up without his parents has affected his life, decisions and emotions.

Speaking in an interview with Kobby Kyei on August 6, 2026, the singer said the pain of losing his parents was once reflected heavily in his music.

“From the beginning of my career, people could feel it in my music that I cried a lot. They normally say I’m always sad when I’m recording. Now, I don’t cry in my songs, but I cry behind closed doors,” he said.

Fameye explained that the absence of parental guidance contributed to some of the choices he made while growing up.

“At a point, when I look at my life, I feel like I wouldn’t have made certain mistakes or decisions I’ve made today if I had parents,” he said.

According to him, some of his reactions and words come from experiences he went through without the support of parents.

“Some of the things I’ve done and the words that come out of my mouth sometimes come out of pain. It might be because of some treatment I never experienced,” he added.

The musician also spoke about seeing other people receive support from their parents during public issues.

“We sometimes see parents fighting for their children on social media and I wish something would happen that my parents would also fight for me online, but that has never happened for me,” he said.

Fameye further recalled becoming a father himself and the moment he wished he had his mother’s support.

“When I welcomed my first child, I was really broken in a way. I was asking, ‘Where is my mother who would bathe the child and take care of the grandchild?’ My woman and I did everything ourselves,” he said.
