BOLGATANGA TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY SACKS VICE-CHANCELLOR OVER ALLEGED GH¢19.5 MILLION FINANCIAL SCANDAL

Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) has dismissed its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Erasmus Alnaa, over an alleged GH¢19.5 million procurement and financial scandal.

The university has also referred the matter to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for further investigation into the alleged financial irregularities.

In addition to the Vice-Chancellor’s dismissal, BTU announced disciplinary measures against three senior officials implicated in the matter.

The university’s Director of Procurement, Samuel Aduko, and Director of Works and Physical Development, Tom Mboya Asigri, have both been demoted and suspended for three months.

Meanwhile, the Acting Director of Finance, Solomon Awariya, received a formal warning letter following the university’s internal disciplinary process.

Although the university has not publicly disclosed the full details of the alleged procurement and financial breaches, the reported GH¢19.5 million scandal is said to involve suspected irregularities in procurement and the management of university funds.

By referring the case to EOCO, the university has paved the way for an independent investigation that could determine whether any criminal offences were committed.
