Apple’s Foldable iPhone Ultra to Ship 7 to 8 Million Units in 2026

Apple’s upcoming foldable smartphone, the iPhone Ultra, is expected to see limited initial supply, with analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimating shipments of around 7 to 8 million units by the end of 2026.

The device is rumoured to launch in September alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, although it may not be available for immediate pre-order following its unveiling. Reports suggest Apple will introduce a delayed ordering schedule for the foldable model due to manufacturing challenges.

According to Kuo, Apple is expected to begin shipping the iPhone Ultra in the fourth quarter of 2026. Despite its high-end price range of US$2,300 to US$2,500, demand is projected to be strong, with the device likely to sell out quickly once it becomes available.

The limited early supply could also lead to resale activity, with scalpers potentially pushing prices up by 50 to 100 percent above retail value in some markets.

While Kuo estimates shipments of 7–8 million units, a separate report indicates Apple may have increased its internal production target to as high as 10 million units, suggesting the company could scale up output if demand exceeds expectations.

The iPhone Ultra is expected to feature a 7.76-inch main display and a 5.49-inch cover display, powered by Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chip. It is also rumoured to include 12GB of RAM and a 5,500mAh battery, making it Apple’s most advanced smartphone to date.

If released as planned, the iPhone Ultra will mark Apple’s entry into the foldable smartphone market, competing directly with established players in Asia’s premium foldable segment.
