WE WILL MAKE AFRICA AND GHANA PROUD’ – Jordan Ayew Guarantees Fearless Performance Against Colombia

Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has pledged that Ghana will leave everything on the pitch when they face Colombia in Saturday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 clash, promising a performance that will make both Ghana and the African continent proud.

The Black Stars head into the knockout encounter carrying more than just their own ambitions. Following the exits of South Africa, Ivory Coast, DR Congo and Senegal in the Round of 32, Ghana remain one of Africa’s last hopes of extending the continent’s presence at the tournament.

Standing in their way is a formidable Colombian side that impressed during the group stage and enters the contest as one of the favourites.

However, Ayew believes knockout football presents an entirely different challenge, where reputations and previous performances matter little once the match begins.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference in Kansas City, the Leicester City forward stressed that every knockout fixture starts on equal footing regardless of what happened in the group phase.

“In football, every game you start is 50/50 and tomorrow is gonna be another tight game,“ Ayew said.

His comments reflect the confidence growing within the Ghana camp after an encouraging group-stage campaign.

The Black Stars have combined defensive discipline with attacking quality to reach the knockout rounds, while head coach Carlos Queiroz has also been handed a significant boost with 25 of his 26 players declared fit for the decisive encounter.

With a nearly full-strength squad available, Ghana will be aiming to produce another composed display and avoid the mistakes that proved costly for several of their African counterparts earlier in the competition.

Ayew also assured supporters that commitment and determination would never be lacking as the team seeks to secure a place in the Round of 16.

“We are going to do our best, we are going to put on a show and we will see what will happen. But what I can guarantee is that we will definitely make Africa and Ghana proud.”
