Accra-Kumasi Expressway project: GAF hands over 175.6km right-of-way today

The Ghana Armed Forces will today, Monday, September 14, hand over a 175.6-kilometre right-of-way cleared for the construction of the Accra-Kumasi Expressway to government.

The handover will take place at Kwaso, near Ejisu, where President John Dramani Mahama is expected to receive the cleared stretch.

Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced this in a Facebook post on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

He explained that the right-of-way refers to the total width of land legally acquired and reserved for the construction, operation, maintenance and future expansion of the highway.

The 175.6km stretch was cleared by the 48 Engineer Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces ahead of works on the 198.7km expressway.

According to Kwakye Ofosu, the project represents the single largest capital investment by any government in the history of Ghana.
