Presbyterian catechist rejects Ghc4,000 settlement from his wife, demands Ghc100,000

A Presbyterian Church catechist named Ernest Opoku in Akutuase, Ashanti Region, has reportedly rejected a Ghc4,000 settlement offered after he caught his wife and her former boyfriend together.

Mr Opoku said he is demanding Ghc100,000 from his wife, Ashia, and her alleged lover, Akwasi Adae, also known as Adae Mogya.

According to Opoku, he became suspicious after noticing that his wife had reconnected with her former boyfriend during their 13-year marriage.

“We have been married for 13 years. I discovered that she was dating her ex-boyfriend again, Akwasi Adae, popularly known as Adae Mogya,” he said on Oyerepa TV.

He explained that he first reported the matter to his wife’s family, but they dismissed his concerns, while Ashia denied the allegati0n.

Opoku said the matter later reached the Social Welfare Department after his wife reported him. According to him, the department fined him after concluding that he had failed to substantiate his claims.

Unsatisfied with the outcome, Opoku said he later tracked his wife and Adae to the latter’s residence at about 1:00 a.m., where he confr+nted them.

“I reported the issue to the family but she denied it and the family accused me of fabricating stories against her,” he stated.

According to him, the confr0ntation resulted in a physical altercati0n.

He claimed he d+maged a car window, tore part of his wife’s clothing to preserve it as evidence, and was later ass+ulted. He added that his mother-in-law apologised after seeing the torn garment.

Following police involvement, Opoku said the other party offered Ghc4,000 and a crate of eggs to settle the matter, but he declined the proposal.

A representative from the opposing side confirmed that negotiations had taken place but said no agreement had been reached.

“The man initially demanded Ghc200,000 and we negotiated it down to Ghc100,000. We are still asking him to reduce the amount further but he has refused. We are still looking for the money,” the representative said.
