Akofena had been disowned, removed from ‘crown prince’ position before Kantanka’s death – Adwoa Safo’s lawyer

There’s another update concerning the Kristo Asafo Church brouhaha.

A lawyer representing Adwoa Safo has disputed claims that Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena was the designated successor to lead the Kristo Asafo Mission before the death of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

Lawyer Kwame Akuffo argued that Akofena had been removed from the position of crown prince before his father’s passing, which he said affected his eligibility to automatically assume a leadership role within the church or family structure.

“Constitutionally, the constitution had disowned Akofena as at the time of his father’s death. He had been removed from the crown prince position,” he said on UTV.

The lawyer questioned whether someone removed from a traditional succession role could later assume leadership after the death of a chief.

“In Akan customs, if a man is made the next successor and is removed by the people, will that man be eligible, tidy, clean and proper to ascend the stool upon the death of the chief?” he asked.

He further stated that there was no properly installed leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission at the time of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s death, adding that the late founder’s will did not specifically name anyone as the next head of the mission.
