Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has sparked debate on social media after urging Ghanaians to take greater personal responsibility in addressing the country’s recurring flooding challenges.

Speaking in the aftermath of the devastating floods that affected parts of Accra and other communities, the lawmaker argued that politicians alone cannot solve the problem if citizens fail to change certain attitudes and practices.

“The truth is only one as I have to speak it. As you saw yesterday, there was flooding. The only thing the President can do for you is fly over in a helicopter, observe the situation, and express sympathy,” A Plus said.

He further suggested that while some politicians may visit affected areas and show solidarity with residents, lasting solutions require a collective effort from both leaders and citizens.

“MPs like John Dumelo—good guys—may wear boots and walk around pretending to solve the problem, but they won’t do anything. If you do not change your attitude, politicians can’t do everything for you,” he stated.
