Upper East: Three killed in head-on collision near Zebilla
Three people, including the driver of a Toyota Sienta, have died following a head-on collision involving an Accra–Bawku-bound VVIP bus and a commercial vehicle near Zebilla in the Upper East Region.
The fatal accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday at Saka, a community in the Bawku West District, sparking renewed concerns over road safety on the busy corridor.
The Toyota Sienta, with registration number UE 302-25, was travelling from Bawku to Bolgatanga when it collided with the oncoming VVIP bus heading towards Bawku.
The deceased victims, together with several injured passengers, were rushed to the Bawku West District Hospital in Zebilla, where the injured are receiving treatment while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited for preservation and further identification.
Sources familiar with the incident disclosed that the driver of the Toyota Sienta, popularly known as “P Pant,” had only recently acquired the vehicle and had begun commercial operations from his station last month.
Authorities are yet to release the identities of the other victims involved in the crash.
