39-YEAR-OLD DRIVER ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH DEATH OF UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST STUDENT

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 39-year-old man, identified as Michael Mensah, in connection with the suspected murder of Innocentia Atsufui Avinu, a student of the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

According to police, the suspect was apprehended at Pedu Station in Cape Coast following an intelligence-led investigation into the circumstances surrounding the student’s disappearance and death.

Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that Mensah picked up the deceased from Ayensu Plaza on the UCC campus before driving her to Hutchland Beach, where she was last seen.

Authorities disclosed that the suspect claims to be a teacher and also works as a driver. He is currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.

The arrest has sent shockwaves through the University of Cape Coast community, with students and members of the public calling for justice for the deceased.

The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that further developments and outcomes of the case will be communicated in due course.
