Didier Drogba on Thomas Partey and visa challenges affecting Senegal supporters:
“African teams should not continue to bear the brunt of administrative and visa-related obstacles.
From everything I’m hearing, this situation is becoming increasingly concerning. If Ghana is forced to play without Thomas Partey because of matters unrelated to football, it would be a significant blow not only to the team but to the nation as a whole.
At the same time, reports of Senegalese supporters struggling to secure visas raise serious questions about fairness and equal access. Fans are an essential part of the game, and players deserve the backing of their supporters on football’s biggest stages.
Football is built on competition, passion, atmosphere, and national pride. When supporters are unable to attend and key players face barriers unrelated to the sport itself, the integrity of the competition is affected.
There is an urgent need to address these issues.
From my perspective, African teams and African fans appear to be disproportionately impacted, and that is something that must be carefully examined and corrected.”
